Graphic Arts program accredited PrintED

The Graphic Arts program at South Grand Prairie High School became an accredited PrintED program on May 12.  Only four other high schools in Texas have this accredited course.

PrintED is administered by the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation (GAERF).  This national accreditation and certification program is based on industry standards for graphic communications courses of study at the secondary and post-secondary levels.

Students enrolled in the two year program study over 438 related competencies.  At the end, students with 80% completion rate of the competencies are eligible to take the exit test in order to receive certification.  The certification offers students immediate value by enhancing job advancement, increasing job security and improving compensation.

For those who are pursuing further education, certification can result in the granting of college credit.

The SGPHS Graphic Arts program started their program in October 2006 and students achieved a 100% pass rate at the completion on May 12.

Senior Graphic Arts II students will be taking their certification exit test the week of May 19.
