The North Central Texas Farmers Market held their gala Grand Opening Saturday morning at the market’s new location, City Hall Plaza.

Local farmers and vendors offered a wide variety of fruits, vegetable, plants, and specialty goods.

Rita Heep, City of Grand Prairie Economic Development, said consumers today want to support local farmers and want to know where the fruits and vegetables they purchase are grown.  The North Central Texas Farmers Market offers locally grown produce and will attract shoppers to the downtown area.  She said the market's new location is another step towards the revitalization of the downtown area.

“We hope this is just a beginning of a new downtown,” Heep said.

Fresh fruits and vegetables will be for sale on Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the summer at the market’s new location, City Hall Liberty Bell, from 8 a.m. until sell out, which is usually around 1 p.m.
