Drowning victim’s body recovered

Grand Prairie police recovered the body of 27 year-old Darlanius Smith of Grand Prairie, Friday morning from Joe Pool Lake.

Lake patrol officers found Smith’s body about 6:30 a.m. in the area where witnesses saw him go under the water while swimming without a life jacket, on Memorial Day.  Police and fire personnel have been searching for his body since the accident.

An autopsy on the body will be performed by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause of death.  Police do not suspect foul play was involved
