Dispute over girlfriend ends in murder
Peirre D. Thomas, 21, of Grand Prairie is expected to be arraigned this morning for the murder of Ryan Anthony Charles, 22.
Grand Prairie police spokesman Detective John Brimmer said police were called to the Cottonwood Park Village Apartments, 549 Dickey Road around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning about a disturbance in progress.
When the officers arrived they learned that Charles had been shot during a dispute with Thomas over a girlfriend. Police arrested Thomas a short time later with the alleged murder weapon in his possession.
Charles was transported by ambulance to Medical Center of Arlington where he died at about 8:44 a.m.
No one else in the apartment or the complex was injured and the investigation is still ongoing, Detective Brimmer said.
