Country sensations and hit recording artists Gary Allan and Miranda Lambert kick start the action at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie with back-to-back concerts during Opening Weekend.  Live horse racing returns to Lone Star Park on Thursday, April 10 for its 65-date 2008 Spring Thoroughbred Season, including the return of the popular Country Music Concert Series.  In addition to Allan's and Lambert's performances, Lone Star Park's Opening Weekend offers fans a full roster of racing, special guests, giveaways and fun for all ages, making for a super start to another exciting racing season.

Opening Day, Thursday, April 10, begins with Lone Star Park's traditional opening ceremonies, followed by the Bob's Steak & Chop House Premiere Steaks Handicapping Contest.  Special guest and renowned trainer Steve Asmussen, whose Preakness winner colt, Curlin, was 2007 Horse of the Year, will be on site to sign free autographs from 5-6pm.  Racing fans will each take home a commemorative, hand-painted Steve Asmussen bobble head that night (one per person with general admission, while supplies last).

MCA Nashville recording artist Gary Allan, whose single "Watching Airplanes" is nominated for a CMA award and two-time Grammy nominee Miranda Lambert, will perform Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, respectively.  The Friday night concerts begin at approximately 11 p.m., while the Saturday show is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.  Texas country artist Johnny Cooper will open for Lambert.

Following Friday and Saturday's live music, Sunday brings 2008's first Family Fun Day, with a special appearance by the loveable SpongeBob Square Pants.  The young and young at heart alike can enjoy a fun-filled day with bounce houses, pony rides and a petting zoo, combined with Texas' best live Thoroughbred racing.  Best of all, the first 500 children ages 12 and under receive a free pass to Six Flags over Texas.

Sunday also marks the return of Senior Citizens' Day.  All seniors 62 years or older will receive one (1) Free General Admission at the Admissions Gates every Sunday during the 2008 Spring Thoroughbred Season.  Just present valid identification at the designated areas to receive the coupon.
